Over the course of nine years Wakefield School Sports Network and Outwood Grange Sports Partnership have organised a number of level 1 (inter-school) and level 2 (intra-school) competitions. Have a look below at some of the various sports we have covered so far this year.
Spring Competitions 2016/17
With teams from Walton, Sharslton, Shay Lane and Crofton Juniors our evening of High 5 Netball got better and better as the event continued. All four teams show fantastic example of moving the ball down the court, changing direction to find space and getting into that shoot opportunity. In the end it was Crofton Juniors who just pipped Shay Lane to become overall winners and both Walton and Sharlston coming a close third and fourth.
Overall Winners: Crofton Juniors
Runners Up: Shay Lane
Third Place: Walton
Fourth Place: Sharslton
Winter Competitions 2016/17
What an action packed, breath taking tournament this year's Year 5/6 Mixed basketball competition turned out to be. I can honestly say I didn't expect the high level of basketball that was on show. Great movement from all the players, finding the space, looking to change the defence and making themselves available for the pass. In basketball you only get the points if the ball goes through the hoop and right from the off all the teams got their sights set on that prize. All the photos are available via our photos link
Overall Winners: Shay Lane
Another action packed competition this year with teams from Sharlston, Shay Lane and Crofton Juniors all demonstrating their skills with a hockey stick. More photo are available through out photos links.
Overall Winners: Shay Lane
Runners Up: Sharlston
A fantastic, well supported half term of football with tournament across the full age range from Year 1 all the way up to Year 6. Teams from all across the trust, plus a couple more turned out to kick, head, dribble and shoot the ball all over the field and sometimes in the goal. Players represented their schools from Walton, Sharlston, Crofton Infants, Normanton Common, Normanton Juniors, Lee Brigg, Cobblers Lane and South Kirby Academy.
Year 5/6 Normanton Common
Year 3/4 South Kirby Academy
Year 1/2 Lee Brigg Infant School
We always love a bit of a rumble and a chance to throw each other on the floor in Wakefield so what better opportunity that a 'Blood, Sweat and Tear' Rugby competition with teams from South Kirky Academy, Walton, Sharlston and Crofton Juniors. I'm sure we'll be back in the Spring for some more.
