Building Bridges Program
With the focus on team this day starts with an assemble looking at who helps an Olympic athlete to achieve their goal. This vision is then used through a series of team building challenges using both verbal and non-verbal communication skills to develop the idea of team within classes.
The Building Bridges Program has worked well with schools that have an diverse intake of pupils from a number of different ethlic backgrounds and are addressing the issue of community.
There is nothing like a school trip where children fall asleep on the way back. So far we have run this field trip twice at the end of an Outdoor and Adenturous scheme of work but would work well as a stand alone trip .or even a staff team building session.
Participates are devided into teams for the morning and are asked to complete a series of team building challenges around issues of trust, communication and co-operation, followed by an introduction to orienteering with a short course to complete.
The afternoon is then used to put these skills to the test with a longer timed orienteering challenge and a number of map and team related acivities. Participates are outdoors in the fresh air for the whole of the day come rain or shine. A brilliant day out.
